Slam Dunk Photos Trending on Facebook

This photo of Slam Dunk characters in human form is getting a lot of attention on social networking sites. We have yet to confirm the source of this image, but speculations that this is part of a live action version of the popular anime has been ruled out by many. 

If there is indeed a live action version, then that would really be exciting for anime fans. On the other hand it would be very challenging for film makers as every small detail would be scrutinized by followers.

80% of TOEI Animations are Done in the Philippines

It has long been known that the Philippines is home to thousands of creative talents. Pinoy artists have made names around the world for their craft. We have excelled in architecture, visual arts and sculpture. And just recently, Pinoy animators have also penetrated the competitive world of animation. Pinoys were involved in Pixar hits such as Finding Nemo and Up! That’s why it did not come as a surprise when it was reported that 80% of production of TOEI (a major animation company based in Japan) is being outsourced in the Philippines. This is more a confirmation of an already known fact. Hopefully, Pinoys could someday come up with a full-animation that would be seen by audiences worldwide and would gain for creative and financial success. Til then, we have to keep crossing our fingers.

Solenn Heussaff's Fashbook Discusses Cosplay (video)

The following is an excerpt of Fashbook's cosplay segment which was aired on February 15, 2012 on GMA NewsTV. In this segment, it was established that cosplaying is not just a mere display of colorful and fancy costumes in an attempt  to facsimile a particular comic or animated character but in fact, a fashion statement on its own right. 

A central part of the segment is Solenn's interview with one of the country's premier costume designer in the person of Raquel Pateña  (Mommy Koni to her friends and loyal clientele), the proprietress behind the widely renowned YnNoK's Dress Shop. One of the highlights of the show is the display of YnNok's creations; some of which have received various recognition in different cosplay events.    .

Anime Lovers Mourns for Whitney Houston's Death Too

Whitney "The Voice" Houston, the artist behind hits such as I Will Always Love You,Greatest Love Of All and I Wanna Dance With Somebody died on February 11, 2012. Friends and Fans mourned for the lost of a great artist. Anime fans on the other hand came out with creative ways to pay respect to fallen singer. This video is one them.

Slam Dunk Live Action!

I have seen a number of videos replicating the opening sequence of the uber popular basketball anime Slam Dunk but this is by far the best one. It was made by students of the National Taiwan University of Arts. This video makes me want to download the whole series and watch it all over again. I just love Slam Dunk so much!

Can Sakuragi and Players from Slamdunk Win in the NBA?

I saw this picture on Facebook. I'm not sure if Jeremy Lin is better than Sendo. I still think if the guys from Slamdunk make a real team and join the NBA, they may actually have a chance to win the championship considering how good they are in the anime. 


They would definitely lack the size though. Centers Takenori Akagi  and Jun Uozumi are only 6'6" and 6'8" respectively. They will find it hard to go against 7-footer giants in the NBA. But one may argue that Ben Wallace of the champion team Detroit Pistons is infact only 6'7 yet he dominated the game. So height may not be a real factor. If I were to build my own NBA team from characters in Slamdunk here's what the roster would look like.

Voltes 5 Movie Remake? Is this for Real?

This picture has been circulating in social networking sites this week. The caption claims it's from a GMA Films' movie remake of the Japanese hit Voltes V!

Upon further information-digging we figured this image has been in existence since 2003. GMA 7 Network claims no truth to the alleged movie remake. Thank God it's not true, else it might ruin the legend that is Voltes 5!

Good Morning Alodia!

This video of Alodia receives different reactions from fans and other audiences. The video has 45% dislikes in Youtube upon posting. Personally I don't get it. I's just Alodia waking-up one sunny morning (in full make-up), preparing her coffee and eating some kind of sweet cake which looks more like an eggpie. It's supposed to be a teaser video by Esquire Magazine for its December 11 issue featuring Alodia. Like her or hate her, Alodia has now become a part of mainstream pop culture.

A better kind of high!

This is something most cosplayers already know. Cosplay is a lot better addiction than alcohol, cigarettes or drugs. Cosplay is fun and creates positive vibes. It gives a different high which no addictive substances can provide.
