The 5th Philippine Cosplay Convention at will be held at Robinsons Place Manila Midtown Atrium on March 3, 2012. Below are the guidelines announced by the organizers.
5th Philippine Cosplay Convention (PCC) Cosplay Guidelines
- 5th PCC Cosplay is open to all event attendees.
- 5th PCC will be an OPEN CATEGORY competition where participants are allowed to cosplay any character from any genre whether it's from an anime, manga, games, comics, movies, western animation, etc. Please keep in mind that Original Characters are not qualified.
- Both the INDIVIDUAL COSPLAY and GROUP COSPLAY will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2012.
- The individual cosplay and the group cosplay registration will be have an online pre-registration which will be hosted by Cosplay.ph (http://www.cosplay.ph) and an on-site/at-con registration only which will be on Saturday, March 3, 2012. While pre-registering does not guarantee a slot in the official contestant list, it does deload contestants the burden of providing personal information on-the-spot.
- Pre-registrants must confirm their registration to the contest from 10am-1pm on March 3, 2012. Those to fail to confirm their pre-registration will have their slot(s) forfeited and the next available slot(s) will be given to the on-site registrants.
- In the event that a category in which 3 or less contestants are entered, the organizers reserve the right to cancel the contest or category. The prize/s may then be reallocated based on the organizer's discretion.
- Cosplayers under eighteen (18) years of age as of cosplay event date must have their parent/s and/or legal guardian/s sign the waiver/image release form which will be distributed at the event.
- Fanservice (ie. yaoi, yuri, etc.) is allowed but should be “General Patronage”. Any kind of extreme kind of fanservice (ie. kissing, PDA, etc.) that is deemed inappropriate for minors are strictly prohibited. Keep in mind that 5th PCC Cosplay is a wholesome and a General Patronage event.
- Costumes that are too revealing (ie. exposes private parts) are prohibited. Scantly clad and/or sexy costumes are allowed but are not encouraged. The 5th PCC cosplay team has the right to disqualify any participant on this ground.
- All kinds of costume props must be handled with utmost care and must not be harmful to his/her fellow cosplayers, event staff and event attendees. Any kind of sharp and/or bladed objects that will be used as costume props that could cut human flesh are strictly prohibited. Any kind of pyrotechnic equipment/s that will be used as costume props that could render damage to the venue and/or property is strictly prohibited.
- The 5th PCC cosplay team, 5th PCC Cosplay organizers and its staff will not be held responsible for damage or injury resulting from mishandling and/or negligence of a cosplayer in his/her use of props/materials throughout the duration of the event.
- 5th PCC cosplay judges’ decisions are final and can’t be appealed.
- 5th PCC cosplay organizers reserve the right to disqualify any cosplayer who ignores and/or violates any of the aforementioned guidelines.
- Registration and participation to the cosplay event constitutes that the cosplayer gives the right and the authority to 5th PCC Cosplay organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to take pictures and/or videos of registered cosplayers, cosplay groups and its members and will be the sole property of the organizers/staff, its sponsors and authorized press media to be used for future publications and/or advertising promotions.
- 5th PCC cosplay organizers and its staff and their relatives up to the 2nd degree of affinity or consanguinity are disqualified from participating in the cosplay event.
Individual Cosplay Guidelines
- There will an entry limit of 150 participants for the Individual Cosplay event. There is a deadline for the registration and anyone who registers before the deadline is included to the official list of Individual Cosplay contestants.
- Cosplay registration for the 5th PCC Individual Cosplay event will be both an online pre-registration and an on-site/at-con registration.
- The online pre-registration will be done through the Cosplay.ph Cosplay Pre-Registration Page.
- Pre-registrants who fail to confirm their registration from 10am-1pm (tentative) on March 3, 2012, the next available slot(s) will be given to the on-site Individual Cosplay registrants.
- Individual Cosplay participants to have Personal Assistants but they must stay off-stage at all times.
- Individual cosplay participants are not qualified to join the Group Cosplay contest even as a minor role or as a prop.
- Individual Cosplay participants will be given number tags that must be worn at all times.
- Individual Cosplayers must perform the Cosplay Tag, details of which are found below.
- Twelve (12) cosplayers with the highest scores shall be selected to proceed to the final round. The 12 finalists’ scores will be cleared and shall be rated again on a new set of Criteria. Finalists should be ready to answer any questions posed by the panel of judges.
Cosplay Tag (Individual Cosplay)
Instead of a normal catwalk, each individual will interact shortly with the person in front of him/her and the person behind him/her. It can be as simple as a wave, handshake, etc. or as complicated as a short fight scene. We encourage you to talk to the person who will proceed and follow you to plan out your moves. A good transition will score you extra points with the judges.
As this is a Individual Cosplay, human props or any on-stage assistance is not allowed. Personal Assistants are allowed but they must stay off-stage at all times. They can, however, assist the cosplayer with props beforehand or even assist them in getting onstage. Very young children are allowed the assistance of their parents onstage if needed, however.
Group Cosplay Guidelines
- A cosplay group must consist of at least three (3) and a maximum of ten (10) members per group. Human props and the Cosplay Group’s Technical Director are included in the member count.
- There will be any entry limit of ten (10) groups for the Group Cosplay. There is a deadline for the registration and anyone who registered before the deadline is included to the official list of Group Cosplay participants.
- A member of a particular cosplay group can only join ONE COSPLAY GROUP and he/she will not allowed joining multiple cosplay group/s.
- Cosplay registration for the group cosplay will be both an online pre-registration and an on-site/at-con registration.
- The online pre-registration will be done through the Cosplay.ph Cosplay Pre-Registration Page.
- Any member/s of a cosplay group are not qualified and allowed to join the Individual Cosplay contest.
- If the 10 cosplay group quota has been reached but pre-registrants fail to confirm their registration from 10am-1pm on March 3, 2012, the next available slot(s) will be given to the on-site group cosplay registrants.
- All cosplay groups are required to have a cosplay skit. Each cosplay group will be given a maximum of 5 minutes of stage time to do their skits.
- All BGMs (background music) that will be used for the cosplay skit must be in audio format (.CDA) or in MP3 format and must be within the limit of their cosplay skit. Audio CDs must be properly labeled and submitted at the event itself upon registration. A cosplay group is required to have a technical director who will assist the 5th PCC technical team in the usage of their CDs.
Picture Reference Submission
- Both Individual and Group cosplay contestants are required to submit picture references.
- All cosplay registrants need to submit a printed colored full-body picture of the character that they will be cosplaying (and NOT a picture of themselves in costume).
- Accuracy points will be deducted from cosplay registrants who failed to submit a picture reference.
- All pictures must not go below 3x4 inches (wallet size) and must not go beyond 8.5x11 inches (short bond paper size).
